On Not Being Trusted -- By Anybody

One of the perks of being a university professor -- highly touted by most universities that have such a benefit -- is the tuition waiver, the university's willingness to let you take any class on campus free of charge. But just try taking advantage of such a benefit.



Unfortunatly, most of us are far too busy, far too consumed with teaching and grading and research to possibly even consider taking a college course. In fact, in the four years I've been a university professor, I've used this perk only once -- to take a beginning guitar class.
